CREATING a successful career, being a loving mother and achieving your dreams are all possible, and that's what Christine Hills hopes to pass onto her students.

Mrs Hills is looking forward to being a positive influence to the young girls attending Rockhampton Girls Grammar School next year, as she is appointed their new principal.

Mrs Hills has held principal positions for more than six years and is currently working at Gladstone State High School; however she is looking forward to taking up her new position.

"Many things drew me to the job, especially my interest in rural education," the mother-of-four said.

"I've spent the bulk of my career teaching in regional centres, such as Moura, Theodore and Emerald; and what I know is that rural people have a desire to give their kids the best education they can."

Mrs Hills said she wanted to be a part of Rockhampton Girls Grammar School as it was important to her to help girls become successful young women in the world.

She said she loves every minute of her profession and getting the chance to make a difference in a student's life.

Mrs Hills, who became a teacher in 1989, will move her family to Rockhampton in time for the 2016 school year when she takes up the new position.

"I've learnt a lot from teaching in rural Queensland and about schools being part of communities and the relationships you can create," she said.

"I'm looking forward to getting back to Rockhampton, there's a real rural component I enjoy and it has a strong community."
