Promising signs for chamber

PROSERPINE Chamber of Commerce has entered discussions with Whitsunday Regional Council regarding the town entrance statement project.

Chamber president Chris Patrick welcomed council's decision to include the chamber's input.

Council announced $400,000 for four town entrance statements for its four townships following its July budget. The Proserpine Chamber of Commerce will lead discussions over Proserpine's entrance statement.

"Obviously they're just suggestions at this stage," Mr Patrick said.

"We've submitted a rough idea of a 'Welcome to Proserpine' type sign just to get interest going.

"We appreciate they're involving us."

Discussions continued during the chamber's recent meeting last Wednesday evening.

Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jenny Whitney said new signage would celebrate the individualism of each town.

The aim is to have new signage on the Bruce Highway, north and south of Proserpine.
