Prossie High bids 'adios' to Lucia
PROSERPINE State High School Argentinean exchange student Lucia Navarret is heading home after a six-month Queensland stay.
She says she will return to Argentina a little wiser, a little more confident and much better travelled.
Sixteen-year-old Lucia was in Proserpine for one month after spending four months in Townsville.
She said some real life lessons had been learnt.
"I have learnt to not have expectations of others. You have to say what you think and how you are feeling,” she said.
Admitting there had been ups and downs during her Australian stay, Lucia said the overarching message she would take home will be a positive one.
"I am not the same person I was when I took the plane here. It's going to help in my life and make a difference,” she said.
More confident, more assertive and not afraid to do things on her own, Lucia said her world was now a bigger place.
Coming from a medium-sized city in the Argentinian interior called Central Roca in the Rio Negro province, Lucia said the difference in the school system took some getting used to but she didn't miss the 7am school start back home.
Lucia said she had made good friends in the other exchange students at Proserpine High, with whom she will remain in contact through social media.
