Public to grill Bligh in question time

QUEENSLANDER'S will today have the chance to grill the state government on a range of public issues during People's Question Time from 12pm - 1pm.

Premier Anna Bligh, Treasurer Andrew Fraser and Health Minister Paul Lucas fielded questions submitted by citizens across Queensland, with health, asset sales and daylight savings the big ticket issues.

People's Question Time is a public forum that puts questions to the Queensland Premier, government ministers and panel guests before a live audience at QUT's Gardens Point campus.

QUT School of Justice, Law Faculty Associate Lecturer Erin O'Brien will moderate the forum.

“I’ve received questions on a huge range of topics, but so far the popular issues seem to be health, asset sales, and an old favourite, daylight saving,” O’Brien, a former Australian and European debating champion, said.

“Unfortunately due to time constraints I can’t ask the Premier every question I receive, but I will be raising a range of issues, and asking questions about the hot topics that seem to be of most interest to Queenslanders.”

Premier Anna Bligh will headline the forum, with other panel members yet-to-be announced.

"I look forward to discussions on any topics - whether it's job creation, law and order, asset sales, our health system, daylight saving and everything else in between," she told AAP.

Premier Bligh, Climate Change and Sustainability Minister Kate Jones and Infrastructure and Planning Minister Stirling Hinchliffe were questioned by the public about population growth at the last forum in March. More than 160 questions were submitted and 1100 people logged onto the website to watch the hour-long forum.
