Public helps Wulkuraka fire victims by raising $19k

A FUNDRAISER for Wulkuraka fire victims Robyn Thomas, her partner Brett Ward and daughter Brianna Creenaune has passed the $19,000 mark.

Friends of Ms Thomas started the appeal after the Ipswich family lost their home in a fire early Sunday morning.

Brianna sustained horrific burns in the blaze and remains in an induced coma, as she awaits extensive skin grafts.

The 16-year-old has serious burns to 60% of her body, sustained when a section of burning ceiling fell on her. Ms Thomas and Mr Ward were injured as they tried to pull the burning clothing off Brianna's body.

The fire also claimed the lives of five of the family's eight highly trained dogs.

Mr Ward was released from hospital soon after, while Ms Thomas has recieved treatment over several days at the burns unit of Royal Brisbane Hospital.

She is hoping to be released this weekend.

Members of the public can still donate to the Robyn Thomas Fundraiser.

Fundraiser creator Dan Barnes said the community support for the family had been encouraging for the victims. More than 240 donations were received by 3pm yesterday, totalling $19,200. To donate, visit mycause.com.au and search under Robyn Thomas.
