Raceway open for all this weekend
THIS Sunday marks the day that motorcycle riders in the Whitsundays have been waiting for - to do their own lap of the new Whitsunday Raceway and Driver Education Training Facility.
Whitsunday Motosports Club will be hosting the club's first come-and-try day at the raceway on Sunday following its opening in December last year.
Race secretary James Dwight said this was a great opportunity for local riders but urged anyone interested in having a go to register as soon as possible.
He said there were only limited positions available for the come-and-try day so that riders would get their fair share of a ride on the track.
The come-and-try day will give riders the chance to ride a race bike in a safe environment with bikes and safety equipment provided to them on the day.
The day will kick-off at 9.30am and finish by 4pm and there will be a range or road racing bikes and super motard bikes available to borrow from WMC members.
The track on Lascelles Rd (the road to Whitsunday Coast Airport) has been professionally designed and built for racing with six right and four left-hand corners.
For anyone that wants to have a go on Sunday it will cost $45 which is the registration fee to be part of the Whitsunday Motosports Club.
They will grant new riders with a free one day competition licence so they are covered by insurance.
