Raider in black takes off with bank's money

POLICE were scattered across Redbank Plains yesterday, as the search began for a brazen bank robber.

A woman armed with what was described as a silver hand gun walked into the Bank of Queensland at Redbank Plains shopping centre about 10am, demanding cash from a teller.

Nobody was injured.

She fled with a sum of cash and was last seen heading towards the Redbank Plains Recreational Reserve.

Multiple police crews descended on the suburb, searching for the armed woman, who was described as wearing a black t-shirt and track pants.

The police dog unit was called in to assist in the search for the offender.

Warnings to people in the surrounding area resulted in the lock-down of two schools.

Police were seen stopping and searching a vehicle in the car park behind the shopping centre, however it turned out to have no connection with the crime.

Anyone with information can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
