JUNIOR rugby union players from right across the region were put through their paces by Queensland Reds player Jono Lance at the Whitsunday Raiders holiday clinic on Friday.
More than 60 young players aged between eight and thirteen took part in the clinic at the Whitsunday Sports Park hosted by the Junior Raiders and attended by Lance, Reds strength and conditioning coach Ollie Richardson and Queensland Rugby Union development officer Tyrell Baker.
Senior Raiders coach Hemi Taukiri also helped out on the day as the kids were put through different drills and skill-building activities in the one-day clinic.
"All the kids loved seeing Jono Lance and he was really hands-on in all the activities. All of our guest coaches were just fantastic and really got involved in everything the kids were doing and they learnt so much from them," Junior president Sharron Pratt said.
It was the adults turn for a clinic on Saturday, with Lance, Richardson and Baker hosting a three hour-clinic for senior players and junior coaches on the finer points of rugby and how to improve in certain areas.
"We were able to host the clinic thanks to a grant from the Whitsunday Regional Council and everyone at the club is very grateful for their support," Mrs Pratt said.
