Relaxing fun in the sun
FANCY a relaxing Sunday on the lawn with a drink in hand and some soothing music in the air?
That's exactly what Proserpine Entertainment Centre are providing this weekend, with the bar open, a Thai food stall and beats by EQUUS - all for only $2.
EQUUS will set the mood with its interesting fusion of Mongolian and Middle Eastern music while you sit back and soak up some sun.
Supported by Arts Queensland, the four-piece troupe is an unusual ensemble, featuring throat-singer Bukhu, percussionist Peter Kennard, baglama player John Robinson and Bertie McMahon on double bass.
Audiences can expect quite an array of sounds, from Mongolian classics cast in a contemporary setting to North African grooves and even a swing jazz standard or two.
So far the musos have been breaking down preconceptions in the south, with Music Forum Magazine describing them as "pure musical pleasure, exciting, fun and challenging, all at once".
Couple this interesting addition to the centre's line-up with a beautiful Whitsunday weekend and you've got the perfect way to ease back into the working week.
Patrons are asked to bring their own chair or blanket, as the event will be held on the lawn.
