RUGBY LEAGUE: Two Brahmans have been picked in the North Queensland Marlins team to contest the Queensland Rugby League A-grade Divisional Trials this weekend.

Halfback Phil Ramage and lock Grant Cooke will travel to the Gold Coast with the 19-man squad for two games against South East Queensland and South Queensland.

Ramage, who is the only incumbent player in the team to return this year, said he was motivated to do well with the rep side.

"We had such a good team last year and we won the carnival so I'm definitely pleased to be back and we'll try to win it again," he said.

"It's always exciting to be around a new team environment, with new players that you don't play with or against regularly."

This weekend's carnival will bear extra significance for Ramage, who will play in front of family and friends for the first time in years.

"Being from the Gold Coast, my mum, dad, sister, her little ones and a few mates will get to watch me so I'm excited about the weekend," he said.
