IN REPLY to Pete Bek's letter to the editor in Whitsunday Times edition June 28 "Poor Service", may it be suggested you obtain a Taxi Drivers Licence. There are plenty of vacancies in the Whitsundays, where you work 12 hours day and night having to put up with whinging drunk and abusive passengers, dodging crazy motorists, bicycle riders, pedestrians and animals etcetera.
At the end of your shift you receive commission on your takings most times $8 per hour or less sometimes. No wages, no sick leave, no holiday pay, no superannuation and no thanks most times.
The owners, Lessee's and all drivers in the Whitsunday Taxi Service are among the best in Australia (just try a cab in our capital cities). We do have problems some time with our base station (so do you with your aeroplanes). Get on with your Life. This was an isolated incident.
