VISITORS and locals enjoy Show Whitsunday every year and this year was no different - thanks to the committee and a dedicated team of volunteers that work extremely hard to ensure the event is a great success.

"Prossie show" as locals say, has been part of our community for 104 years. 

The show's equestrian activities ran both Friday and Saturday attracting riders from all over Queensland.

There were varied classes of ridden and led show horses, including western, horse breeds, show challenge and show jumping.

Cowgirls and cowboys also came to contest the Wilmar Sugar Show Whitsunday Challenge, which took centre stage in front of the grandstand.

This event is always a crowd pleaser consisting of Station Hack, Working Horse and Time Trial classes.

Local rider Kendell Davies of Whitsunday Equestrian Group riding her horse Chino was declared the overall Challenge winner followed by Jennifer Cox riding Docs Damien in second place and Daisy Robertson riding Misty taking third place.

Kendell and her horse Chino have worked hard in recent years to achieve this prestigious award.

As a young rider Kendell won the Junior Challenge in 2011 and 2012.

In her speech following presentations she thanked the show committee, volunteers, sponsors and her parents for their continued support.
