Revvin’ the Reef will rock in Airlie Beach

A TOUCH of nostalgia will be hitting the streets of Airlie Beach as the second annual Fraser Ford 'Revvin The Reef' Car Show takes place on Saturday, August 6.

Classic cars will be sidling up against Hot Rods and "muscle cars" and it's not too late for local residents to enter a car into the show, which will run from 10am to 3pm in the Airlie Beach main street.

The free event will see "rev machines" from as far afield as Townsville and Rockhampton rolling into town for one of North Queensland's biggest classic car shows and spectators can vote for their favourite car.

The top 10 crowd-pleasers will then go into the Rotary Street Parade at 4pm.

There will also be a Miss Pin-up Competition at noon on the Main Stage, where gorgeous girls dress up in their best 50s or 60s vintage attire and strut their stuff on the catwalk.

For the first time, this will be followed by a rock 'n' roll dinner dance in the foreshore marquee, featuring local band the Cadillacs, who are sure to get everybody dancing.

Event organiser Rebecca Ross said there was a lot going on throughout the day and evening for car lovers and lovers of everything vintage.

"For the car lover in everyone, this will be sure to impress and take you back in time," she said.

"Make sure you rock on up in your best 50s and 60s outfit and enter our Miss Pin-up Competition, enjoy the music, great atmosphere and vote for your favourite car.

"The rock n'roll party also promises to be a great evening in the new marquee, overlooking the Coral Sea on Airlie Point."
