WHITSUNDAY GOLF: Monthly Medal winners for the 2015 season congregated to contest the Medal of Medals title on Sunday.

Ross Richards took home the men's A-grade title with 71 while the B-grade winner was Kevin Mills, who carded 72.

Penny Wardroper's scorching round of 62 was more than enough to win the ladies' title.

Meanwhile, 30 Whitsunday golfers played a stroke competition in conjunction with the Medal of Medals competition on Sunday.

Wayne Temby triumphed in the A-grade men's field, finishing with a nett score of 64 to beat Ernie Holstein (66).

Ross Richards had the day's best gross score while the longest drive award was claimed by Kym Hill.

Gary Goddard won the men's B-grade prize, carding 71 to edge out Kevin Mills by just one stroke. Mark McDougall had the best gross score and Reg Kercher had the longest drive. The ladies' title went to Penny Wardroper, who finished three shots clear of Pam Casey (65).

Anna Winterbourn had the best ladies' gross score while Penny Wardroper and Robyn Mills won the longest drive titles. Nearest-the-pins went to Wayne Temby (no. 9), Ross Richards (13), Danny York (16), Wilf Herweg (16) and Pauline Redpath (2). The WFX Encouragement Award went to Leanne Abernethy as a consolation prize, as she missed out on a game because there were no buggies available. This Sunday a stroke competition for the president versus captain teams will be held at the Proserpine Golf Club.

Teams will be decided by a blind draw of scorecards at the end of the round. In other news, the Whitsunday Golf Club will hold their AGM at the Reef Gateway after presentations on Sunday.
