AS MANY as 40 motor cycle riders stopped at the Prosperine BP on Monday.

They were led by motor sport legend Steve Richards and were on a charity ride from Melbourne to Cairns.

The Monkey on Your Back bike ride is in support of the beyondblue charity and is arranged by Laser Plumbing and supported by BP Australia.

Steve Richards took time out to sign a few autographs at the BP, the riders fuelled up their bikes had a feed and then hit the road on the way north.

However BP operations manager Steven Cooke said they didn't leave empty handed.

BP Proserpine kicked in $500 for the beyondblue charity whose aim is to tackle depression and anxiety disorders.

"We were a designated stop," Mr Cooke said. "We fed them and BP has donated their fuel and we made an extra donation."

The Proserpine manager had the chance to meet Mr Richards and he signed posters for the Proserpine BP staff on Monday afternoon before putting the rubber to the road.
