BMX
NEARLY 200 riders hit the Les Stagg BMX track at the weekend for the Crankin for Cancer Carnival.
The Proserpine BMX Club raised monies for a cancer fund on Saturday, with riders from Cairns, Townsville, Ayr, Mackay, Sarina, Walkerstone, Moranbah and Rockhampton joining the 32 locals.
Byron Chauntler won the Crankin for Cancer race, while also claiming the 11-year boys division.
Other winners on the day included Isabella Allan (10-year girls), Taylor Kerr (15-year girls), Kira Allan (pro women) and Peter Little (pro men).
Little also won the Dash for Cash worth $250, while the club's mini wheelers stole the show early.
Airlie Frisch and Bryn Kehres starred in the 2-4 year division, while Levi Morris, Savanna Allan, Gemma Jenkinson, Ryder Kehres, Cooper Green, Ky Porter, Jett Oliver, Toby Jenkinson, Ben Knox, Abbie Green, Jesse Frisch and Cooper Knox flew for the Sprockets (4-7).
Proserpine BMX Club secretary Sharon Jenkinson said it was a great day of racing with 190 entries.
Jenkinson also paid tribute to the club's various sponsors for making Saturday's carnival happen.

9-year boys - Kaleb Jenkinson 5th
10-year girls - Isabella Allan 1st and Madison Gough 3rd
11-year boys - Byron Chauntler 1st
13-year boys - Kaelan Gough (20 inch and cruiser) 2nd and Preston Watts (20 inch and cruiser) 6th and 4th
14-year boys - Tyler Storey 3rd
15-year girls - Taylor Kerr 1st and Chloe Chauntler 2nd
40+ men 20 inch - Murray Scholz 3rd
44-year men cruiser - Murray Scholz 3rd
