Roads closed after heavy rain on Granite Belt

TWO roads on the Granite Belt have been closed due to flooding.

Texas Rd at Pikedale and Pyramids Rd at Wybera were closed as of 2.20pm, according to the RACQ.

A Southern Downs Regional Council spokesperson said staff erected "road closed" signs on Sundown Rd on the eastern side of Washpool Creek and on the eastern side of the second crossing on Bents Rd.

Water was about 600mm over the road at that time.

Council staff also erected signs to close part of West Rd near the Council depot, where about 300mm of water was over the crossing.

Bridges in the Stanthorpe township have not been affected, and the weather has been clearing.

Motorists are urged not to drive or walk through flood water.

Updated weather information can be found at bom.gov.au.
