Rodeo rider injured

RODEO: You can hear by his voice just how upset Bowen bull rider Beau Willis is.

Willis had qualified to ride in the Last Cowboy Standing rodeo in Las Vegas but a serious injury to his bicep stopped him from reaching a major goal.

"You ride all year long, week in and week out and then you finally get to where you want to be," he said.

"One of my goals is to get on tour and, to know that you're going to get there and then have it taken away from you, it's pretty hard to be honest."

Showing just how dangerous bull riding is, Willis seriously injured his arm while competing in the United States last month.

"I did it through the ride, I just pulled the bicep straight off the bone," he said.

"It's a six-month injury, I had to have surgery."

Willis also qualified for a big rodeo event in Nashville in August but will not be able to compete at this event either due to the injury. Now it's all about recovery and rehabilitation for Willis.

"I'm still limited with my arm; it's in a brace, and I can't really move it," he said.

"Hopefully I'll be able to start doing a little bit more with it soon and I'll just go from there."

In some small piece of good fortune for Willis, he's at least been given an injury exemption for the Pro Bull Riding tour.

Nebo bull rider Justin Paton was also going to compete in the same event Willis was unable to take part in.

However a concussion injury forced Paton to miss the event too.
