Row or run for Race Week fun
RACE Week isn't just about sensational sailing action, with a swathe of other fun activities for the community.
Saturday is Race Week Family Fun Run day, open to anyone with an interest in pounding the pavement.
Whitsunday Running Club president Tim Oberg said this year's theme was 'Rio Carnival Olympics', encouraging competitors to dress to impress.
"People can either go with the Rio Carnival style or with the Olympic Games," he said.
"It's going to be a lot of fun."
The Fun Run is a fantastic way for the whole family to get involved in Race Week, with free entry for everyone.
"It's something for families to come out and get amongst a little bit of the action in the evening, get dressed up and then experience the atmosphere back at the sailing club," Mr Oberg said.
Runners will return to an evening of live music, great food and fantastic prizes at the Whitsunday Sailing Club.
Sunday sees Outrigger Whitsunday take to the water, with six crews tackling a scenic course.
Making their way from the sailing club, around Abell Point Marina and back again, the crews will be welcomed with the pounding of drums and the flicker of flaming torches.
Arriving as the sun sets over the Coral Sea, this is sure to be a sight to behold.
Coach Nick Bellinger said it would be a fun event for both competitors and spectators, with the community encouraged to come and experience the atmosphere.
The fun then continues on the foreshore with live entertainment set to see you dance the night away.
