Roy wrangles silver

BULL RIDING: Proserpine cowboy Roy Dunn returns to the region after a stellar effort at the PBR Live Series in Grafton at the weekend.

Claiming second spot, the bull rider also walked away with $3000 in prize money.

Dunn said he had done well in the first round of 40 riders.

"Then they take the top 10 scores out of the 40 back to a short round," he said.

"I rode my first bull and ended up sixth in the round."

An impressive second ride saw him win the short round and shoot to second spot in the event standings.

With the silver in the bag and the $3000 in the bank, Dunn said he had started the series strongly before hitting a rough patch.

"So I just really put my head down," he said.

"In Hervey Bay, the weekend prior to last, I finished second."

Dunn said the money would be going back into his bull riding, with plans to take on the PBR in America.

"I'll probably go over at the end of this year or early next year, depending on how my season finishes up," he said.

With a break in PBR events, Dunn said he was looking forward to taking on a few rodeos over the next few months.

Dunn thanked local sponsor Fitness Venue Whitsundays.
