Rudd novel's spooky resemblance

CRYING seems to run in the Rudd family - only this time it was tears of pride as the former prime minister and his wife gathered at a Brisbane bookshop to celebrate the launch of their daughter Jessica's debut novel.

The Rudds were among a small crowd at Riverbend Books in Bulimba, in Mr Rudd's electorate, for the much-anticipated launch of Campaign Ruby.

The novel has garnered hot press thanks to its spookily prescient storyline: it's set during a fictitious federal election campaign after Australia's male prime minister is deposed by his female treasurer.

Ms Rudd addressed the audience, which also included her husband Albert Tse, before signing copies of the book.

She thanked her father - despite having previously admitted she feared she'd somehow caused his untimely exit from The Lodge.
