School leaders inducted
THEY perhaps were not the most popular students or the best at sport but they were chosen by their peers for their ability to lead.
At St Catherine's Catholic College Loyola campus last week, school leaders were officially inducted at a special school assembly.
Principal Peter Bates was on hand at the ceremony to welcome the new leaders for the 2017 year and offered them some advice on how to best represent their peers in the months ahead.
"They were elected because of the people they were and we don't want to change that. We want them to keep that going,” he said.
"It's not always easy to be a leader but with the skills they have shown I am sure they will do a good job.”
Mr Bates said there were many more applicants than leader positions available and some students unfortunately missed out.
However those who were not elected were still recognised and mentioned at the leader induction ceremony.
The leaders will act as role modes, lead care groups at the Loyola and Mercy campuses and will sit on the student council.
And of course they will lead the war-cry at school sporting carnivals as well as meeting and greeting visitors when they arrive at the school, Mr Bates said.
