Schools induct leaders

SCHOOLS across the Whitsundays have been busy inducting in their new school leaders for 2011.

Proserpine State School, Proserpine State High School, St Catherine's School and Whitsunday Christian College have held their own induction ceremonies in front of many proud parents over the past few weeks.

Proserpine State School inducted in their new school captains, sports house captains, students council representatives and school leaders on Tuesday.

Principal Ross Hughes said it was a great day of recognition for the students.

“They're a wonderful group of students,” he said.

“They've all got a challenge ahead of them in their various roles for the year.”

Gus Bermingham was elected as sports house vice-captain for the Kennedy house.

He said he was looking forward to the year ahead.

He said he can't wait to run with the little kids in the cross country and show them what to do.
