THE Whitsunday Sea Eagles have soared to their second win of the 2016 season in a convincing thrashing of the Mackay Magpies.

In front of a home crowd at the Whitsunday Sportspark the Sea Eagles ran away with their most convincing performance all season.

At half time the score board read Sea eagles 8, 5, 53 to the Mackay Magpies 3, 7, 25.

The third quarter offered a chance for the Magpies to launch a comeback but the Sea Eagles, sensing victory stepped up a gear and totally dominated possession.

A blustery south easter made for tricky goal kicking conditions but the Sea Eagles managed to stay on target scoring goals at will when in range of the posts.

Brent Gale had a cracker of a game managing to out manoeuvre the opposition and fielded possession after possession on the right of the field before retiring in the last quarter.

Saturday's win puts the Sea Eagles level pegging with the Mackay City Hawks and the Bakers Creek Tigers, all teams on 12 points.

The Sea Eagles have a bye nest week followed by representative weekend on the weekend of May 28.
