A STELLAR season from the Whitsunday Sea Eagles only female player Cassandra Thompson has seen her invited to be a part of the trials for the Central Coast Cobras (CCC) state championship team.
The CCC is a group of girls from Mackay to Maryborough that combine to form a girls AFL team to compete at the state championships. The experience ranges from girls who played junior football against the boys, right through to some who have only played a few school games.
Whitsunday Sea Eagles and Gold Coast Suns development coach Jamie Fuhrmann said Cassie had a great year with the under-13 and 15 Sea Eagles and also represented Mackay in the representative game against the girls team from Rockhampton over the Queens Birthday weekend.
"This is a great result for Cassie and all of her hard work has helped improve her skill levels."
This Sunday, Cassie will travel to Rockhampton to join girls from around the region for a training camp and game at Stenlake Oval starting at 11am.
Sunday's session will give Cassie the chance to meet the coaches and potential team-mates before a side is selected at the end of the session.
If Cassie is successful in making the team she will then travel to Cairns to take on Queensland's best at the state championships later in the year.
