Seeney sent to CCC over Royalties for Regions allegations

FORMER Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney has been accused of using a government program designed to fund regional projects for "personal electoral gain".

Queensland Treasurer Curtis Pitt in parliament on Friday said he was referring an auditor general report into the Royalty for Regions program to the Crime and Corruption Commission.

The report, released earlier this week, found the R4R program had seen a higher rate of project application success in LNP seats - and that Mr Seeney had funded three airports, all close to each other, in his own electorate.

Mr Pitt said the report suggested Mr Seeney had used the program for "personal electoral gain".

"I have referred the entire auditor general's report … to the Crime and Corruption Commission," he said.

"It would appear to disclose evidence of corruption. I've asked the CCC to consider the matter and advise on appropriate action."

Mr Seeney has rejected claimed he acted inappropriately and said the auditor general's report was "absurd".
