Shingley Beach scrubs up
SHINGLEY Beach has been given a facelift.
The eastern end of the beach, once covered by vegetation and largely inaccessible, has been opened up for use.
Abell Point Marina owner Paul Darrouzet dipped into his own pocket for the project, using his team of contractors to carry out the work on the neighbouring beach.
"This latest project has created a beautiful area in what was an ugly expanse of noxious weeds, rubbish and rock," he said.
"We here at Abell Point Marina are happy to make an ongoing contribution to the beautification of Shingley Beach and the Shingley Beach foreshore."
The construction team has also established a sand ramp down onto the newly exposed stretch of beach.
Mr Darrouzet said there was more work ahead in the area, with a major project in the works for the unused land between Shingley Beach and the marina.
"In addition to Shingley Beach, other than finishing off the property adjacent to the marina, another $840,000 will be spent by September to create one of the most spectacular parkways on the coast of Australia," he said.
The new project will see a stage, wedding areas and fountains, with Mr Darrouzet saying it would highlight the approach "to our beautiful town and coastline".
