MACKAY baker Jasmin Hartley may not have been the winner of the Great Australian Bake Off, but she was thrilled to have made it through to the grand final of the Foxtel television baking show.
"I'm absolutely on cloud nine after the show.
"I was so happy with everything I did," she said.
"I wish my signature (vanilla slice) probably could have been a bit better, but overall... I was pinching myself, I couldn't wipe the smile off my face."
Jasmin's final challenge, the "showstopper" dish, a multi-layered red velvet and mud cake, was made sweeter by the fact her family was there to taste it on the show's last night.
Her father and sister surprised Jasmin by travelling from England to appear in the final episode.
"That was the biggest surprise, I had absolutely no idea they were coming over," she said.
"I'd been talking to my sister and my dad in the weeks and days just before and they gave nothing away."
Now the season is over Jasmin is focused on a career in baking.
"I'm going to try and make new and exciting things, taking on from what I've learnt on the show," she said.
"My dream is to have a high tea shop.
"That would be incredible, to make delicate, very British cakes and scones."
She said she'd love to work on a cookbook or baking television show teaching others to cook.
As Christmas looms, Jasmin will be working on a more personal project - her annual yule log for lunch with her fiance.
She suggested getting the Christmas baking done early to avoid a sweaty day in the kitchen.
"So many things freeze well, especially mince pies and Christmas pudding," she said.
