SICYC’s distinguished guest

AMONG those arriving in the Whitsundays for this weekend's Shag Islet Cruising Yacht Club Rendezvous is a particularly special guest.

Distinguished Professor Judith Clements will attend the event's "hands across the blue" initiative on Saturday, when SICYC members get in their dinghies and form the shape of the Prostate Cancer Foundation's logo in the waters off Montes Reef Resort.

Professor Clements is a prostate and ovarian cancer researcher in the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, QUT, and scientific director of the Queensland Prostate Cancer Research Centre.

She was awarded the Queensland Women in Technology Biotech Outstanding Achievement Award for 2012, the prestigious title of Distinguished Professor - the only woman in QUT's history, in 2013; and the Companion of the Order of Australia in 2015.
