Sights on the show

IT'S that time of year we all wait for with bated breath - and not just for the long weekend.

That's right, it's Show Whitsunday.

There will be something for absolutely everyone, with events and rides ranging from sedate to shut-your-eyes exciting.

Returning to the show once again will be world-famous Australian-born horse whisperer Guy McLean, demonstrating his breathtaking talents in all things equestrian.

There's plenty more for the animal lovers, with showjumping, ring events, poultry, cattle competitions and more.

Those looking to display their particular skills are also in luck. The show will have competitions of almost every kind taking place in the arts and crafts pavilion.

Floral art, farm, garden and fruit produce, horticulture, painting, drawing, photography, needlework, cookery, crafts and sculpture competitions will all be on offer.

Registrations for cooking, horticulture and produce categories close at noon on Thursday, June 18, while all others close at 5pm on Monday, June 15.

Registration forms are available from Proserpine Sew & Save, Proserpine Pharmacy, Farm HQ, CRT Proserpine, Hoof & Horn, Midge Point Post Office, Bloomsbury State School, Bloomsbury Rural and the show office.

If thrills are more your thing, sideshow alley is the place to be. Chances are there will be more than a few rides that take your fancy.

Also returning for the 103rd show will be the Friday night fireworks display.

If all this sounds like your cup of tea, then saddle up and mosey on down for one of the best events our town has to offer.
