Snapping up NY prize

THE work of Whitsunday photographer Lisa Michele Burns will be beamed across Times Square, New York City, on June 18, from 7-11pm.

A collection of Ms Burns' photographs have been selected for an event called "Art Takes Times Square", a global initiative to transform the landmark location into a display of art for one night.

For four hours on June 18, the square's most iconic billboards will feature the artwork of artists from all over the world.

Ms Burns, who is the resident photographer at Hayman Island and owner of the Hayman Gallery, says her collection of photographs to be shown at Times Square features the colours and sunsets of the Whitsunday islands.

"It's quite exciting. A Whitsunday sunset will be shown in front of thousands in NYC."
