Solar farms, parks, cycle circuit in Collinsville’s future

A LOOKOUT over a solar farm and historical displays are among potential projects headed for Collinsville.

Whitsunday Regional Council have called for residents to have their say on future improvements in Collinsville, Scottville and surrounding areas.

A list of potential projects have been flagged as part of the community consultation.

Among them was a shared pedestrian and cycle circuit along Carpet Snake Creek, Sonoma St and Railway Rd to connect schools, parks and residential areas.

A solar farm lookout was also floated that would give residents a picnic destination of Strathmore Rd.

The council document also listed an investigation into aged care to take into account the health and social needs of residents so the council could advocate for future funding.

CANDIDATES RESPOND: Supporting tourism post-COVID

Collinsville's history was in the spotlight with suggestions of an RV hub that would include interactive displays and improve access to the Collinsville Historical Society collections.

Residents have been asked to submit their own ideas alongside those the suggestions.

One resident called for a water park similar to the ones in Proserpine and Bowen while another hoped for new play equipment in the town's parks.

Footpath lighting, pool upgrades and a picnic area near the boat ramp were among other ideas put forward.

Public consultation will remain open until November 20 and a sausage sizzle with public displays and brainstorming will take place on Friday, October 23.

You can submit your ideas here.
