Sophie leaves artistic mark on Main Street
A NIGHT-TIME stroll down Proserpine's Main Street will reveal a pleasant Christmas surprise.
Sophie's Jewellery and Gifts front window display has added much-needed colour to the town.
Owner Sophie Kettner single-handedly put together her decorated front window with a glowing tree, Christmas-themed mannequin and golden reindeer.
The creative work caught the eye of Sophie's design supplier, who described it as similar to a Sydney boutique.
Sophie said her love for Proserpine was the biggest motivation for her to create something special year after year.
"I do it for the town, to try to bring about something different,” she said.
"We had two little girls with their mum and they were up against the window looking at it, if everyone put in some effort it could help bring more people back to our town.”
Last year, Sophie's Christmas display won her second place in a council Christmas decoration competition.
Sophie isn't entering her masterpiece in any competition this year, she simply wants her personal passion to speak for itself.
Sophie is calling on other shop owners to join her to make Proserpine glow this Christmas.
"People are creative, they just don't realise they can do it,” she said.
"Instead of wasting dead money, put it into your shop and just think a little out of the box.”
