Stan Walker to play Aussie World on comeback tour

Former Australian Idol winner Stan Walker has fought a huge health battle and emerged even 'more humble', the performer says

He will perform at The Shed at Aussie World on August 8, featuring music from his new album, Faith, Hope, Love.

At the height of his career, Stan was struck with a deliberating hereditary disease in 2017 that had claimed 25 members of his family.

Through sheer strength and the unfailing love and support from family and fans across New Zealand, he survived and has very definite plans to keep working, touring and enjoying every single day of his life.

Stan Walker will perform on the Coast next month as part of his comeback tour.

"It made me more humble to be honest," he said.

"I had to take four months out - I've never taken that much off work before.

"It was frustrating - I couldn't wait to get back into music, acting and working.

"Now I'm feeling the best I've ever felt - there's going to be a lot more energy than people who've seen me before, more than they remember."

Faith, Hope, Love is a particularly special and poignant release. The five-track EP is dedicated to the victims of the Christchurch shooting and is Stan's way of offering support to those affected.

"Just like everybody else, I was devastated," he said.

"It was heartbreaking; you never think that kind of thing would happen on this side of the world.

Proceeds from the sale of the album will go to families of the victims.

"The EP was never planned - I was already working on my new music for the last two years," Stan said.

"I was ready to release, but then I put everything on hold after Christchurch.

"That was just me trying to do my best, something that would mean something to many people," he explained.

Meanwhile, proceeds from the tour will go to the Peter MacCallum cancer centre in Melbourne, which helped Stan during his battle with illness.
