Stars take on Arnie Classic
KARATE: Excitement is building for Whitsunday Kyokushin karate fighters.
Competitors from the region's three clubs - Cannonvale, Proserpine and Hamilton Island - have arrived in Melbourne for the Arnold Kyokushin Classic and are anxiously waiting for the beginning of the tournament on March 17.
Twenty-five Whitsunday team members are fighting fit, ready to give their all in the kata, non-contact and full-contact divisions of this action-packed tournament.
Both Shihan Wayne Hinschen from the Proserpine dojo and Belinda Woodham from the Cannonvale club wished the competitors as successful a tournament as the fighters had last year.
"It's great to see our Whitsunday competitors gearing up to compete against some of Australia's toughest fighters,” Sensei Woodham said.
"These guys and girls have trained hard.
"We wish them all the best.”
