Airlie Beach Post Office closed suddenly on October 8, 2009.
The fully serviced Post Office was in the former Airlie Beach newsagency.
Airlie Beach Day and Night Chemist now provide light postal services via their Post point.
Cannonvale Post Office provides full postal services and is operated by Australia Post Corporate.

AIRLIE Beach CBD is still without the essential services of a Post Office despite the central outlet closing 12 months ago.
When the store closed abruptly this time last year, Australia Post said it would only be a temporary closure until a new licensee was found.
Australia Post said they received a number of applicants for a new store but they were “yet to identify a suitable licensee to operate a Post Office in Airlie Beach”.
A Post Point operates from the Airlie Beach Day and Night Chemist to provide general postal products such as stamps, envelopes and pre-paid satchels but is not capable of offering the full service.
Airlie Beach Day and Night Chemist manager Steven Capell said people still talked about not having a full service Post Office in the CBD.
He said many people used the Chemist's services at the post point but otherwise, they were driven out of town to the Cannonvale Post Office.
“It is certainly missed by the locals in town,” he said.
“Locals say it would be better to have one in town.
“We don't have the facilities for posting parcels and that sort of thing.
“There is certainly quite a bit of traffic for that sort of thing.”
Australia Post said they were continuing to “explore alternative licensees” but recommended residents used the Cannonvale Post Office at the Whitsunday Shopping Centre.
“Australia Post is interested in hearing from anyone who would like to operate a Post Office in the local area,” a spokesperson said.
“If you would like to purchase the licence, please contact our customer contact centre.”
