Summer events get Brisbane buzzing
BRISBANE is humming with an exciting line up of activities, festivals and events to keep the entire family entertained this summer.
January kicks off with the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament which will be held from January 1-8, 2012 at the Queensland Tennis Centre and will see some of the world's best tennis stars playing in the tournament including Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Kim Clijsters, Sam Stosur, Ana Ivanovic and Bernard Tomic.
For the artistically minded, the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) will present 'Matisse: Drawing Life', the most comprehensive presentation of Matisse's drawings and prints ever mounted at Brisbane's prestigious GoMA from December 3, 2011 until March 4, 2012.
QPAC's Lyric Theatre will be playing host to Mary Poppins, the Supercalifragilistic Musical from December 30, 2011 until March 17, 2012 and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre will be bursting at the seams with top bands and international performers including Cold Chisel, Kings of Leon, Dolly Parton, Elton John and Taylor Swift set to make their way to Brisbane.
For cricket fans heading to the iconic Gabba sports ground an exciting summer of cricket awaits with the first Test, a number of 20/20 Big Bash and Sheffield Shield matches as well as One Day Domestic and One Day International cricket games scheduled throughout summer.
