Sun shines as athletes show skills

PHYSICAL education teacher Trevor Nosworthy was thanking his lucky stars that Mother Nature didn't deliver more rain for the Proserpine State School athletics carnival on Friday.

"After yesterday we are very surprised we got it in today. So we are very happy," he said on the day.

Mr Nosworthy said the children were in good spirits and enjoying the competition and "that is the main thing".

Kids aged between eight and 12 took part in track events although the field events were postponed to allow children to take part in representative athletics.

Mr Nosworthy said Proserpine State School had kids in the representative northern team every year and some went on to represent Queensland.

The littlies' fun day on Monday was cancelled due to weather.
