Sun shines for Wintermoon
THE sun was shining on the thousands of people who flocked to the Wintermoon festival this May Day long weekend when the tranquil site at Cameron’s Pocket was transformed into a sea of tie dye and aural delights.
With a stellar line-up of musicians from Australia, some international entertainers also joined in the festivities to ensure the punters were kept happy.
Festival organiser Chris Cann said there were about 1000 campers and 1000 day trippers who made their way to the event across the three days.
"It went like a well-oiled machine," he said.
"Shane Howard was a real crown favourite – and the Twine."
Mr Cann said the camping ground started to fill up from the Easter long weekend with people making sure they secured their perfect spot at the grounds.
He said he was pleased to see strong numbers from the Whitsundays and Mackay but Brisbane attracted a good crowd as well.
He said the volunteers did a great job to make sure the event went smoothly and he was pleased to have repeat performances from a number of musicians this year.
"The musicians all love catching up with their old friends," he said.
"They always get well looked after and always want to come back."
While the volunteers were finishing their last shift on Tuesday night to bring the festival to an end, Mr Cann said he was already looking forward to next year’s Wintermoon.
"Get your tickets early and get in fast," he said.
