UPDATE: A 74-year-old Golden Beach man was pulled from Kings Beach this morning after suffering a suspected heart attack while swimming.

Queensland Ambulance Service attended the scene near Caloundra Surf Club at about 7.30am but were unable to resuscitate the man.

An ambulance spokeswoman said police were dealing with the matter.

Sunshine Coast North lifeguard supervisor Anthony King said the man, who was a regular swimmer, was receiving CPR when lifeguards arrived at the beach at 7.30am.

Lifeguards assisted until paramedics arrived on the scene a few minutes later.

Mr King said at about 8am that lifeguards were preparing to open the beach.
