Police remove suspicious device near Beenleigh Train Station

UPDATE:

Police have safely removed a suspicious device near Beenleigh Train Station without incident. 

Train services have resumed operation. 

Police have also revoked the Public Safety Preservation Act at and around the station.

6:30 PM: Suspicious device shuts down Beenleigh Train Station

AN Eeclusion zone has been set up at Beenleigh Train Station after suspicious device was found nearby this afternoon.

Beenleigh Police have closed roads and set up an exclusion zone around the station this evening.

Around 5.20pm police received a report of a suspicious item located in Macs Lane.

Officers attended the scene and set up an exclusion zone a short time later.

Specialist police, including the Explosive Ordnance Response Team (EORT), remain at the scene.

Roads in the area including Macs Lane and the intersection on Alamein and George streets are closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Trains are also not travelling in either direction through Beenleigh however buses are been used to ferry passengers.
There is no further information available at this time.
