Tackling the big issues

PROSERPINE State High School students Logan Donadelli and Jade Davis tackled some of the world's biggest issues last week, taking part in the United Nations Youth Queensland Mackay Conference.

Otherwise known as the Model UN, the boys walked away with second place.

Jade said they had tried to solve issues around the oil crisis, refugees and the ongoing conflict in Pakistan.

"We have to take our own opinions out of it and make decisions based on how our country would do it," he said.

Representing the United Kingdom, Jade said he had an interest in world problems.

"I didn't know much about it in primary school, but once I got to high school I loved learning about it and seeing how I could do something about it," he said.

"When I grow up I want to make a difference as a person."

To pursue this dream, Jade is looking at studying law. "But that's not for sure yet," he said.

"I'm only in grade 10.

"I just want to do something that definitely makes a difference."
