Teams ready for Country Carnival
MORE than 1400 netballers will descend on Rockhampton for the 2012 Netball Queensland Country Carnival including three teams from the Whitsundays and one from Bowen.
The Whitsunday under-13, 14 and 15 teams will make the trip to Rockhampton later this month as they look to prove themselves against the best netball players in the state.
Held from July 28-29, the carnival is a chance for Whitsunday netballers to improve their game and build on their teamwork skills.
With 146 teams competing in the Queensland Country Carnival, the tournament provides a pathway for young talent and gives increased exposure of the sport.
Teams will compete in a range of divisions across six different age brackets from under-13 up to an open division for senior players ensuring a variety of athletes competing.
Netball Queensland CEO (Acting) Hamish Johnston is looking forward to the annual carnival and said the event was always a highlight on the Netball Queensland Calendar.
"The great thing about Country Carnival is that it gives netballers of all ages a chance to compete in a great competition against teams from around the state," he said.
"In 2012, there are teams from 11 of Netball Queensland's 12 regions competing with teams travelling from as far as Roma, Mount Isa and Tweed Heads."
The Country Carnival will be held at Rockhampton Netball Association on from July 28-29 with two full days of netball action planned.
