Teen tries and fails to hide booze, ends up arrested

AN 18-year-old who attempted to steal a bottle of alcohol by shoving it down his pants and dropped it several times has been arrested.

The teenager was charged with attempted theft and public nuisance after an alleged three attempts to steal a bottle of Cointreau, all of which failed at the Carriers Arms Hotel in Maryborough on Wednesday.

Police allege the 18-year-old first tried to put the alcohol down his pants but it fell through and hit the floor.

He then allegedly picked it up and dropped it again before making a third attempt and failing.

Police were called and the teenager was arrested at the hotel after he allegedly yelled abusive and threatening language towards staff and a witness who confronted him.

He is expected to appear in Maryborough Magistrates Court on August 30.
