Earlier:

GLADSTONE Regional Councillors will thrash out the idea of removing fluoride from the water supply today. Councillor Kahn Goodluck will bring up the motion this morning at the council meeting.

His recommendation in the agenda is to advise Gladstone Area Water Board to stop putting fluoride in Gladstone's drinking water. And he would like it to cease as soon as possible.

Live twitter updates from the council chambers:

Cr Goodluck said after speaking to "a large number of people" he decided to "grab the bull by the horns" so the council could have the discussion and debate and move on to more important matters.

"I can't say I've spoken to 40,000 people about the issue but the majority of people I've communicated with want fluoride removed," he said.

Mayor Matt Burnett has also publicly stated he would vote for fluoride to be removed.

All eyes will be on how dentist and councillor PJ Sobhanian will vote.
