The uplifting takeaway behind store owner's big move

WHILE the prolonged dry period pinches at the pockets of many people across the region, one young business identity is taking fearless steps and investing further in his community.

Taking over the spot between the NAB and Heritage Banks, Cooper's Menswear made the big jump this week, moving a few stores from its previous spot.

Owner Andrew Cooper said moving was his way of showing he was sticking with Warwick, no matter what the drought might bring.

"It's nice for the town to have a fresh store,” he said. "It boosts people's morale.

"You have to keep positive, you can't just sit back on your business.

"I'm committed to Warwick, it's a great place to have a business and to offer what I offer.”

Mr Cooper, who stepped in and took over Skehan's Menswear when he was 24, said he loved to see what clothing could do for self-esteem of his clients. "Buying a new shirt will do wonders,” he said.

"It can change the way you feel, the way you walk.”

Mr Cooper hoped the move, which had happened over the course of a couple of months, would offer him the chance for more exposure with a location closer to Rose City Shoppingworld and a bigger storefront.

"It's time for a facelift and a chance to keep with the times,” he said.
