New thong jeans are a disgrace to denim
IT CAN be hard for fashion labels to put their own spin on the classic jeans look - but one Japanese designer may have taken it way too far.
This week a pair of "thong jeans" was debuted at the Amazon Fashion Week in Tokyo, with all material cut away apart from the bare seams.
Brand Thibaut unveiled the revealing denim garment as part of their Spring/Summer 2018 collection, with the model's rear clearly visible on the catwalk.
In addition to the barely-there jeans, the model completed the look with a pair of old trainers and a beige bodysuit - classic.
It wasn't just the bottom area which was left exposed in the fashion show, but the designer appeared to have hacked away at the fabric all down the legs and front too.
The thong jeans certainly raised eyebrows at the show, but sadly shoppers can't currently get hold of a pair to show off at upcoming Christmas parties.
The garment may be available to buy from Thibaut next year, hopefully when it starts to warm up after winter.
It is certainly not the only bizarre denim item to hit the market to the bewilderment of retail-lovers.
A clothing label launched a pair of jeans that detach just below the bum, leaving you with small hot pants.
The wacky clothing offering, which cost an incredible £330 ($425), are the Y/Project Detachable Cut-Out Front Jeans and have caused quite a stir thanks to the unusual design.
The jaw-dropping jeans aren't the only clothing item to turn heads recently.
A bizarre trend that boomed for women this was year wearing nothing but duct tape on nights out.
