Threats of 'I will kill you'

A CANNONVALE man has been released on parole after pleading guilty to a string of charges including breach of bail conditions, making threats via a mobile phone, being drunk in public and contravening a domestic violence order.

Civilian prosecutor Chris Bennett said on October 5 between 6.55am and 1.45pm, the 33-year-old used a blocked number to call his former partner, leaving more than 50 voice mail messages.

Officers listened to about 10 of these messages including ones where the man said "I will kill you if you do not get back together with me”.

On November 28, the man was released from custody and ordered to report to police on December 20 but failed to do so.

Also on November 28, he entered a bail undertaking and was told he was not to go within 100m of the victim's home but on December 9 at 12.15pm, he was witnessed by a person known to him entering the victim's home and leaving shortly after.

On December 12, police conducting patrols saw the man walking along a road while intoxicated, ultimately leading to his arrest.

Magistrate Simon Young sentenced the man to six months imprisonment with an immediate parole release and 55 days declared served.
