Tigers in weak win over Kings

THE Melbourne Tigers held on to record a gritty 66-61 victory over the Sydney Kings in a low-scoring game in Sydney on Friday night.

Lucas Walker (12 points), Benny Lewis (11 points) and Cameron Tragardh (10 points) led the way for the visiting side.

Not only were they heavily involved offensively, they were the chief orchestrators in a full-court press that came to the fore early in the second period.

With the Kings up by two points at quarter-time the Tigers trio got to work, forcing five consecutive turnovers to spark a nine-point run that put Melbourne in front.

It was a lead they held on for the majority of the game despite Kings captain Julian Khazzouh's dominance on the boards (14 rebounds), and the efforts of Ben Madgen (20 points) and rookie hotshot Anatoly Bose (16 points).
