YOUR SAY: Timely warning about sun damage

EDITORIAL: Though we're coming into the cooler months of the year, an inspirational young man on page one today has a timely reminder for us all.

Take care in the sun.

Queensland is unfortunately known as the skin cancer capital of the world.

Spending time outdoors is part of our lifestyle. However, despite years of campaigns warning us of the dangers, many of us are still careless when it comes to skin damage.

Braden Lang is terminally-ill after first being diagnosed with skin cancer aged 15.

He not only has a message about living life to the fullest but about sun cancer.

He's living proof, he says, of how dangerous UV rays can be. Mr Lang says he thinks the message about sun safety isn't sinking through and regular skin checks can save lives.

Although we're in autumn it's important to remember that skin damage from the sun is always a danger in this part of the world.

As Mr Lang says, five minutes at the dermatologist could save you not only a lifetime of pain, but save your life.
